Our Mission |
|
Is to glorify God by encouraging a personal relationship with Jusus Christ through camping ministry. "...Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and theaching them to obey everything I have commanded." Mathew 28:19-20 |
A Vision for the Future |

“Poverty is not the lack of material things rather the lack of respect for God, self and others.”
Why focus on youth? Our youth have an overwhelming since of hopelessness. They have lots of material possessions but little love. Many of them (over 50%) come from homes that are single parent homes. The parent is responsible for the financial support of their children and they are overwhelmed, having little or no time for their children. The children equate love Our society has taken God out of the schools. There is little to no moral teaching. Truth is relative and getting caught is the only wrong behavior. Consequently without respect for authority they are turning in larger numbers to drugs, alcohol, sex, porn and so on. Many young people have problems with academic studies and are better suited for vocational training. Most of the vocational classes that did exist have been eliminated and the young people leave school out of frustration. Single parent homes are mostly without the benefit of a stable home environment and a positive role model. Many of the children are latch key kids where mom or dad is not home when the children get out of school. Many turn to gangs or the wrong crowd to replace the since of belonging that family brings. Violence is on the rise. Why do we choose to make a difference with kids instead of putting our time and resources in other places? • Because we believe our efforts really matter when we look at the studies that shows that 66% of Christians choose Christ before they were 18. Where are we going? Four camps are currently sponsored by Daybreak for kids 2nd through College. We will add a fifth in the next three years. A program director will be added to our staff to develop this camp and provide resources for the existing camps. Volunteers (they touch lives) will continue to be a significant part of this ministry. Within the next ten years we will add additional camps that will provide life skills teaching. This program is the Carpenter’s Workshop. |
